Bad bosses list: Costco employees routinely “locked-in” by employers and never given proper compensation under overtime laws.
Thousands of Costco employees nationwide may be affected by a lawsuit brought by former employees who claim that at the end of a shift Costco would close the doors and lock employees in without paying them overtime – a violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Employees claim they were not paid overtime
The lawsuit, filed in California in 2009, claims that employees were never paid overtime for the time spent locked in and waiting for management to finish administrative duties including emptying cash registers and removing jewelry from display cases.
