Many people who are injured are reluctant to hire a personal injury law firm, fearing that the firm may take all of their money and being uncertain how much a case could cost. Fortunately, hiring an attorney to handle an injury case often makes financial sense, because cases settled with personal injury cases normally bring in more than cases without attorneys involved.
In most cases, personal injury firms charge a contingency fee to handle the case. In contingency fee cases, the attorney agrees to handle the case and represent the client with the understanding that the attorney does not receive a fee until the case is resolved in the client’s favor, either through a settlement or a lawsuit. This motivates the attorney to work hard on the case to maximize his or her fee.
There are often costs involved in personal injury lawsuits. Many costs are absorbed by the attorney, and the costs are deducted from the final amount that is owed. However, it’s important to read the fine print about whether you are held responsible for costs if the case is unsuccessful.
If you were involved in a car accident in which you suffered injuries and/or damage to your car, you should consult with an attorney. Call today to learn more or to schedule a free consultation.
