Road rage is a big problem on Texas roads. “Road rage” is another term for driving aggressively and venting anger. It’s fairly common for drivers to lose their temper or display anger because of some type of traffic disturbance.
Drivers with road rage frequently use their vehicles in retaliation for some perceived slight. They may make sudden, threatening maneuvers, which can cause unsafe road conditions. It’s common for road rage drivers to get provoked by congestion or the actions of another driver. Road rage accidents can be a big threat to other motorists, as well as passengers inside the enraged driver’s vehicle.
Some of the more common examples of behaviors associated with road rage include tailgating, making obscene gestures, flashing headlights, honking the horn, cutting other motorists off, driving with the high beam headlights on, slowing down the vehicle once passing another car, and driving too slowly for others to pass. If you encounter a driver with road rage in Houston, there are actions you can take that will minimize the chances of injury and damage to your property. You should remain polite, follow the rules of the road, maintain the speed limit, follow vehicles at a safe distance, do not intentionally antagonize the other driver, avoid eye contact, and remain tolerant of the enraged driver.
If you have been involved in an accident with a driver with road rage, legal representation is critical. An attorney can help you investigate the evidence, speak with witnesses, and gather the necessary documents to help make your claim.
