Two people were seriously injured last week when a Metro bus crashed into a bus stop in Bellaire. The accident occurred around 11 pm on a Thursday. The bus driver lost control of the bus and hit two pedestrians. At the time of the accident, there were 35 people on board the bus, but none of them suffered injuries.
One of the injured parties was transported to the hospital by Life Flight. He had broken ribs, arms, vertebrae, and clavicle, a bruised lung, and other injuries requiring surgeries. The condition of the other person injured in the accident is unknown.
It’s unclear why this accident occurred. Bus drivers are normally held to the highest standard of care when operating their bus, which means they must take all necessary precautions to keep passengers, as well as those around them, safe from injuries. Despite the high standards to which bus drivers and other common carriers are held, Texas bus accidents often lead to serious injuries and even fatalities due to negligence on the part of the driver. When this occurs, the accident victim and his or her family can be left with large medical bills, lost wages, and other financial hardships.
When someone is injured in a Houston bus accident, the situation is normally much more complex than a passenger motor vehicle accident. There may be several parties involved, depending on who owns the bus, who employs the bus driver, which insurance companies are involved, and other factors.
If you have been injured in a Houston bus accident, you should speak to an attorney. Call the Kennedy Law Firm to learn more.
