A fatal plane crash occurred in Katy earlier this month, and the NTSB just released new information about it. The accident occurred on July 13, when a Cessna crashed into a community center in Katy. The pilot was the only occupant of the plane and he was killed. The airplane was destroyed by the impact of the crash as well as a fire.
The crash happened about 30 minutes after takeoff from the West Houston Airport. Upon takeoff, the plan turned southwest, and continued west before disappearing from data sources near South Fry Road. According to the FAA, no air traffic control services were provided to the pilot. The plane broke into several sections upon hitting a building.
The report showed that before the accident, the last people to fly the plane were a certified flight instructor and a student pilot. The instructor reported no mechanical malfunctions or failures with the airframe and engine. According to the maintenance records, there was no evidence of any mechanical problems with the plane.
Unfortunately, the exact cause of this accident may never be known. It could have been an undiscovered mechanical issue, a medical issue with the pilot, or another cause. When an airplane accident occurs, the individuals injured or killed on the plane and their family members may have a cause of action. If you or a loved one has been involved in an airplane accident, you should speak with an attorney.
